Revealing a startling personal sacrifice, Border Czar Tom Homan opened up about the struggle he and his family face due to his vital role.
Homan has been forced to live separately from his wife due to a barrage of death threats he has received for securing America’s borders.
The dedicated immigration enforcement official made the remarks during a recent interview with Miranda Devine on her podcast “Pod Force One.”
Homan has spent decades serving in border security, including 30 years as a border patrol agent and in executive roles at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
He disclosed the personal toll of his commitment to enforcing immigration laws.
“My wife’s living separately from me right now, mainly because I worked for many hours, but mostly because of the death threats against me. She’s someplace else. I see her as much as I can, but the death threats against me and my family are outrageous,” Homan explained.
The border czar’s return to government service came at the direct request of President Donald Trump following his 2024 election victory.
Homan recounted the moment:
“I was the first person he called, bringing back, which, again, was a proud moment, but I was actually out to dinner with my wife, and then my phone rang, and I looked down, and it says, ‘POTUS.’ And my wife says, ‘He’s asking him to come back, isn’t he?'”
Despite financial sacrifices and personal risks, Homan’s wife encouraged him to accept the position.
“She said, ‘You need to go back or we’ll get divorced…because if you don’t go back, you’ll be waking up every day, pissed off that you didn’t go back, and I’ve gotta live with four more years of you being pissed off, so go back and do the job,'” he shared.
The border czar has witnessed firsthand the increasing dangers faced by immigration enforcement officers.
According to reports, there has been a 400% increase in assaults on federal officers, with ICE agents now wearing masks to avoid being identified and doxed by radical anti-border activists.
“It’s just ridiculous we’re at the point in this country where those who enforce the laws are the bad guys, those who broke the law are the victims,” Homan stated.
The Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts have yielded significant results under Homan’s leadership.
About 200,000 individuals have been deported, with ICE and DHS arresting over 100,000 people for immigration violations.
Since Homan took over as border czar, southern border crossings have plummeted to record lows according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data.
Homan has faced intense opposition, including protests at his home in Upstate New York, where roughly a thousand demonstrators gathered.
Despite these challenges, he remains steadfast in his mission to secure America’s borders and protect citizens from the threats posed by unchecked illegal immigration, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, and criminal activity.
Despite personal cost and intimidation tactics, Homan’s unwavering commitment to enforcing immigration laws exemplifies the dedication of true public servants putting America’s security above all else.
