Calling out the clear act of injustice taking place before his eyes, President Donald Trump slammed the political plot targeting one of his closest allies.
Specifically, the president has declared war on the Israeli prosecutors targeting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in what President Trump calls “insanity” and a “travesty of justice.”
With billions in US aid flowing to Israel, the president has vowed America “will not stand for this” political persecution undermining Netanyahu’s ability to manage regional conflicts during critical peace negotiations.
President Trump took to social media to blast the corruption trial against the prime minister, comparing it to his own experiences with politically motivated investigations.
“It is INSANITY doing what the out-of-control prosecutors are doing to Bibi Netanyahu,” the president declared.
He asserted that the judicial process would interfere with Netanyahu’s ability to conduct critical negotiations with Hamas and Iran at a time when regional stability hangs in the balance.
The timing of the trial could not be worse for US-Israeli relations and regional security.
Netanyahu requested a delay in his testimony due to pressing diplomatic and security matters.
However, Israeli courts rejected his plea, forcing the prime minister to divide his attention between defending himself and protecting his nation during a time of intense conflict.
“How is it possible that the Prime Minister of Israel can be forced to sit in a Courtroom all day long, over NOTHING (Cigars, Bugs Bunny Doll, etc.). It is a POLITICAL WITCH HUNT, very similar to the Witch Hunt that I was forced to endure,” President Trump stated.
“It was the United States of America that saved Israel, and now it is going to be the United States of America that saves Bibi Netanyahu. THIS TRAVESTY OF “JUSTICE” CAN NOT BE ALLOWED!” he added.
Netanyahu’s trial has faced numerous delays since it began in 2020, including postponements due to COVID-19 and regional conflicts.
Critics argue these delays are tactical, but supporters point to legitimate national security concerns that justify prioritizing Israel’s defense over court proceedings.
The trial comes amid Netanyahu’s efforts to negotiate with Hamas for the release of Israeli captives and manage tensions following a 12-day conflict with Iran.
Left-wing Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid criticized President Trump for “interfering” in Israel’s legal processes.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu expressed gratitude, retweeting President Trump’s message with the comment: “Thank you again, @realDonaldTrump. Together, we will make the Middle East Great Again!”
President Trump’s forceful defense of Netanyahu highlights his unwavering support for America’s strongest Middle Eastern ally.
As negotiations for a potential ceasefire with Hamas reportedly near completion, the president recognizes that Netanyahu needs to focus on national security rather than defending himself against politically motivated charges.
Reports indicate Netanyahu and his allies may seek to cancel the trial altogether, a move that would align with President Trump’s call to “Let Bibi go.”
