(TheIndependentStar.com) – Highlighting the alarming migrant crisis impacting every corner of America, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte openly criticized Joe Biden for not handling the border situation effectively.
In a strong rebuke of Biden’s policies, Gianforte argued that the problems at the southern border affect the entire country including states far from the border like Montana.
Gianforte has visited the southern border four times and emphasizes that the surge of illegal immigration and drug trafficking from Mexico is causing real issues in his state.
“We’ve been able to shut down Montana Meth, but now we have Mexican Meth in Montana along with the fentanyl,” Gianforte explained to The Daily Wire not far from the Rio Grande.
He was there with Texas Governor Greg Abbott and a dozen other governors. “It’s breaking up families, it’s increasing violent crime and we need to secure our border and put it to an end.”
Gianforte firmly believes that Biden has not fulfilled his responsibilities concerning border security. He said Biden already has the means to take decisive action without waiting for new laws from Congress, which is currently seeing a bipartisan immigration bill likely to fail.
“I think we got here because Joe Biden failed to do his job as president,” Gianforte stated. “He has the ability right here today to reinstate the remain in Mexico policy, to continue building the wall, to enforce laws that are already on the books.”
With over 10 million illegal crossings since Biden took office in 2021, Republican governors across the U.S. support Abbott’s decision to take border security into his own hands. They argue that the issue affects all states and that the federal government’s neglect should not leave Texas to handle the crisis alone.
Gianforte pointed to Abbott’s effective measures for addressing the situation in the Eagle Pass area, which drastically reduced the number of crossings. “In the last couple of weeks, since they’ve taken the actions here to secure the border, they’ve had single digit crossings each day,” he added.
Despite the Biden administration’s request to regain control of Shelby Park for Border Patrol use Texas authorities refused. The Texas National Guard and Department of Public Safety have kept control and even added more razor wire to strengthen the border barriers.
