CRIME NEWS REPORT: Criminals turned a joyous occasion into a shootout when they opened fire on law enforcement on Independence Day.

A Texas police officer was shot in the neck while responding to a coordinated attack at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility.

The brazen assault involved a group of more than a dozen masked individuals dressed in black, with some wearing body armor.

They vandalized the federal facility and used fireworks to lure law enforcement into an ambush.

The attack comes amid a wave of anti-ICE activism and highlights the increasing dangers faced by officers protecting the nation.

The shocking incident occurred near the ICE Prairieland Detention Facility in Alvarado, Texas.

Local police responded to reports of a suspicious person at the 1200 block of Sunflower Lane.

Upon arrival, officers encountered armed individuals who opened fire, critically wounding one officer in the neck.

Federal officials report that the attack appears to have been carefully planned.

A law enforcement source revealed that more than a dozen masked individuals dressed in black vandalized vehicles and security cameras at the facility.

The group also launched fireworks to draw officers into their trap before opening fire.

Swift action by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and other authorities resulted in eight arrests following the shooting.

Several of the suspects were reportedly wearing body armor when apprehended, suggesting a level of preparation that alarms law enforcement officials.

The identities of those arrested have not yet been released to the public.

“We are closely monitoring the attacks on DHS detention facilities in Prairieland, TX, and Portland, OR, and are coordinating with the US Attorney offices and our law enforcement partners,” declared Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.

“The Department [of Justice] has zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers or property and will bring the full weight of the law against those responsible,” he continued.

This approach comes as no surprise to supporters of President Donald Trump’s hardline immigration policies.

They have faced increasing opposition from radical left-wing activists who have targeted ICE facilities and personnel across the country.

Thankfully, the wounded officer has been released from the hospital and is recovering.

Local authorities are seeking the public’s assistance with any information that may aid their investigation.

Meanwhile, the FBI has declined to comment on the ongoing case, raising questions about potential domestic terrorism connections.

This disturbing attack is not an isolated incident. It comes amid a pattern of escalating violence against law enforcement and federal facilities tasked with immigration enforcement.
