TRUCKING SCHOOL PURGE

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is finally cracking down on the reckless “CDL mills” that have flooded America’s highways with unqualified drivers, threatening to decertify nearly 3,000 fraudulent trucking schools that have been putting lives at risk for profit.

Story Snapshot

  • Federal review finds 44% of America’s 16,000 trucking schools may not comply with basic safety requirements
  • Nearly 3,000 schools face immediate decertification for falsifying training records and failing standards
  • Crackdown follows deadly crashes caused by unauthorized drivers, including the Florida incident that killed three
  • Trump administration is targeting Democratic states like California, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota for lax oversight
  • Homeland Security is auditing immigrant-owned trucking firms to verify driver eligibility and legal status

Fraudulent Schools Face Long-Overdue Shutdown

The Transportation Department announced on December 1 that nearly 3,000 trucking schools have 30 days to comply with training requirements or risk permanent loss of certification.

These schools failed to meet basic training standards, maintain accurate records, and were caught falsifying or manipulating training data. Another 4,500 schools received warnings that they may face similar action if deficiencies aren’t corrected immediately.

Deadly Consequences of Failed Immigration Enforcement

This enforcement action stems from a tragic Florida crash where an unauthorized immigrant driver made an illegal U-turn, killing three Americans. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy emphasized that the crackdown targets “illegal and reckless practices that let poorly trained drivers get behind the wheel of semi-trucks and school buses.” The incident highlights years of negligent oversight that prioritized political correctness over public safety.

Democratic States Face Federal Funding Threats

Secretary Duffy has threatened to withhold federal funding from multiple Democratic-controlled states that have issued improper commercial driver’s licenses.

California faces revocation of 17,000 licenses issued to immigrants whose work permits have expired or who lack proper verification. Minnesota risks losing $30.4 million in federal funding unless it addresses licensing shortcomings and revokes improperly issued licenses, particularly those issued beyond drivers’ authorized work periods.

Industry Supports Crackdown on Diploma Mills

Legitimate trucking industry leaders have praised the enforcement effort against questionable “CDL mills” that promised training in just days rather than the standard month-long programs.

Andrew Poliakoff, executive director of the Commercial Vehicle Training Association, confirmed these fraudulent schools were “fleecing people out of money” without providing necessary skills. His association’s 100 schools with 400 locations nationwide avoided decertification by maintaining proper standards and documentation.

The Nevada Trucking Association’s CEO, Paul Enos, stated that “bad actors who exploit loopholes in our regulatory systems are putting everyone at risk.”

This enforcement represents a return to common-sense safety standards after years of regulatory negligence that prioritized diversity over driver competency and legal authorization to work in America.
