Highlighting the deadly consequences of the inherited illegal immigration crisis, two aliens have been arrested for the tragic jet ski hit-and-run that killed an 18-year-old Air Force recruit.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton addressed the incident, saying the shocking case was “preventable.”
The killing has sparked outrage as details emerge about the Venezuelan illegal who fled the scene after fatally striking Ava Moore on Texas’ Grapevine Lake.
Authorities arrested Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez and an unidentified male accomplice following an intensive multi-agency manhunt.
The suspects were apprehended after a standoff with police at their Dallas-area home, where law enforcement deployed drones for surveillance before making the arrests.
The operation involved collaboration between Dallas and Grapevine police, Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Paxton confirmed both suspects are in the country illegally, with Gonzalez identified as a Venezuelan national.
“Ava Moore’s senseless death was caused by an illegal alien who should have never been in our country in the first place,” Paxton said after the arrest.
The tragedy unfolded when Moore, a recent high school graduate and basketball star who had enlisted in the Air Force, was kayaking on Grapevine Lake during a holiday weekend.
Gonzalez struck Moore with a jet ski, causing severe head trauma, before fleeing the scene.
A second woman who was on the jet ski during the collision remained at the scene while Gonzalez and her male accomplice fled.
Following the initial hit-and-run on the lake, the pair committed another hit-and-run by striking another vehicle as they attempted to escape.
Police distributed photos of Gonzalez, which ultimately led to their identification and arrest.
Moore was rushed to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center but was pronounced dead from her injuries.
“My heart breaks for Ava’s family and friends, and my prayers are with them as they face this tragedy,” Paxton stated.
He added, “My office will continue to work with local, state, and national law enforcement partners to secure justice for Ava.”
Moore’s promising future was cruelly cut short just as she was beginning to soar.
She had recently completed her first year at the Air Force Preparatory School and was scheduled to begin basic training.
A former student and standout athlete at Timber Creek High School, Moore had already established herself as a young woman of exceptional character and potential.
The case has drawn attention to the inherited illegal immigration crisis, with many pointing to this tragedy as yet another example of the real-world consequences of the Biden administration’s failed border policies.
A GoFundMe page set up to help with funeral costs has already raised over $31,000, demonstrating the community’s support for Moore’s grieving family.
As the legal process moves forward, many are demanding justice for Ava and accountability for a system that allowed her killer to enter and remain in the country illegally.
