(TheIndependentStar.com) – People have different definitions when it comes to long hair. Some people would say someone has long tresses if they fall below the shoulders, while others think long is reaching the rear. How about a head of hair longer than six feet?
A woman in Virginia recently cut off 6 feet, 3 inches of hair and donated 5 feet, 1 inch of it to charity. She’s only 30 years old, but Zahab Kamal Khan had been leaving her locks uncut since the age of 13.

Her motivation for letting her hair grow was a challenge from her father. He suggested she try to set a world record, and that’s exactly what she did. Khan became the inaugural record holder in a new category in Guinness World Records called “most hair donated to a charity by an individual.” She gave the locks to a nonprofit called Children with Hairloss.
Cutting her hair after a 17-year hiatus was a little scary for Khan. She said she was “nervous” but also “excited” about having a shorter style. Her new shoulder-length ‘do probably feels very light and free after years of having over 6 feet of hair weighing down her head.
Now, her tresses will help children in need of new wigs and hairpieces, which the Virginian says feels very rewarding.
