Previous VP candidate Tim Walz (D-MN) used a law school graduation ceremony to launch a vicious, unfounded attack on President Trump, calling him a “tyrant.”
Watch the video below.
Instead of delivering an inspiring message to University of Minnesota graduates about their futures, Walz hijacked the commencement to audition for his 2028 presidential run.
This proved once again that Democrats will politicize any event to demonize a president chosen by the American people.
Walz, who helped lead Kamala Harris to a crushing defeat in the 2024 election, used his platform at the University of Minnesota Law School to accuse Trump of “trampling rights” and “undermining the rule of law.”
Rather than focus on the graduates’ achievements, Walz transformed what should have been a celebration into a partisan political rally.
The Minnesota governor brazenly defended his decision to turn a graduation ceremony political, telling the captive audience:
“Some would say, ‘Boy, this is getting way too political for a commencement address.’ But I would argue: I wouldn’t be honoring my oath if I didn’t address this head on,” he remarked.
Adding to his inflammatory words, Walz declared to the graduates: “This is what the crumbling of rule of law looks like in real time. And it’s exactly what the founders of this nation feared: A tyrant, abusing power to persecute scapegoats and enemies.”
This hyperbolic language comes as Walz positions himself as a potential 2028 presidential candidate, joining other Democrats like Governor JB Pritzker (IL) and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in making appearances in early voting states.
The White House quickly responded to Walz’s inappropriate commencement speech, highlighting his failed leadership during the 2020 riots that devastated Minneapolis following George Floyd’s death.
While Walz lectures about the “rule of law,” many Americans still remember how he allowed his state’s largest city to burn while hesitating to deploy the National Guard to protect citizens and businesses.
Furthermore, Walz even took the unprecedented step of telling graduates to avoid working for law firms that have had dealings with the Trump administration.
This essentially encourages these new professionals to blacklist perfectly legitimate employers based solely on political considerations.
The governor’s inflammatory commencement speech represents the latest example of Democrat fury following their 2024 defeat and their inability to accept the will of American voters.
Rather than addressing the serious issues facing his own state, Walz appears more concerned with launching his 2028 presidential ambitions by pandering to the far-left anti-Trump base that controlled the Democrat Party during the Harris-Walz campaign’s failed run.
