Many conservative social media users are sharing a video that supposedly shows Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, “sniffing” an unknown substance at the White House.
However, the video does not clearly show any evidence of such behavior.
The claims surfaced soon after the evacuation of the White House due to the discovery of cocaine in the West Wing. Newsweek has contacted the White House and a legal firm representing Hunter Biden for comments.
Steve Guest, a former communications adviser to Texas Senator Ted Cruz, shared a video showcasing the Biden family at the White House on the Fourth of July and urged his followers to come up with their own captions. This tweet sparked a wave of Twitter users reposting the video, with many speculating that Hunter Biden was using cocaine.
One Twitter user wrote, “Is Hunter Biden sniffing something here?”
Rogan O’Handley, a conservative Twitter user, shared the video, writing there is “Nothing to see here,” claiming the clip simply showed “Hunter Biden allegedly doing a bump of cocaine at the White House in front of children.”
According to reporting by Newsweek, spokesperson for the Secret Service, Anthony Guglielmi, revealed on Monday (July 3) that cocaine had been discovered in the White House by officials with the Secret Service’s Uniformed Division while they were carrying out their routine checks in the building. The building was then briefly evacuated.
Although the officials did not disclose the identity of the person who left the cocaine in the White House’s West Wing, some social media users made jokes linking it to Hunter Biden.
Biden had openly acknowledged his past struggles with addiction to crack and cocaine.
