On Wednesday, before discussing his administration’s milestones, President Biden light-heartedly mentioned children and ice cream while addressing the audience in the East Room of the White House. This was during the commemoration of the first anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act.
“Before we begin, a note to the youngsters here: I’m familiar with some top-notch ice cream spots nearby. Your parents owe you a treat, so come find me later,” Biden mentioned.
Subsequently, he shifted focus to discuss how his administration has addressed the escalating costs of essentials ranging from groceries to fuel, acknowledging the financial strain inflation has placed on many Americans.
Past remarks from Biden have sometimes stirred controversy. For instance, in October 2022, a comment he made to a teenager in California received backlash from some conservatives online. He had humorously advised her to avoid “serious relationships until you’re 30.”
Additionally, a comment he made a month before during a speech to the National Education Association, the country’s largest teachers’ union, raised eyebrows. He recognized a woman from his past, commenting, “Our history goes way back. When we first met, she was 12 and I was 30. She’s played a significant role in my journey.”
