On Friday, Victoria Toensing, a legal expert and attorney blasted special counsel Jack Smith for being “shameless” and “unethical” in going after former President Donald Trump in the Department of Justice’s investigation of his alleged mishandling of classified material.
This week, Smith’s indictment against Trump was expanded further, as two Mar-a-Lago employees are now facing charges connected to this case.
During an appearance on “The Chris Salcedo Show” on Friday, Toensing stated that Smith was “ruthless” and that he is essentially destroying the lives of two people who belong to the lower levels. This statement was made following Thursday’s superseding indictment which included additional charges that were not previously a part of the counts against Trump. Trump has been accused of mishandling classified material after leaving the White House in 2021.
Trump was indicted in June in a Florida courtroom where he pleaded not guilty to dozens of charges. Walt Nauta, his valet, was also facing charges connected to this case. With the new superseding indictment Smith has expanded the charges to include attempting to delete security footage. These new charges are directed to the third defendant, Carlos De Oliveira, the Mar-a-Lago property manager.
Toensing has alleged that this latest decision is not much about having the evidence, but rather has claimed that Smith’s actions are all attempting to remove the Biden family from any news headlines that would otherwise be focused on their alleged criminal activities and bribery scheme.
She further pointed out that the two new people included in Smith’s case won’t actually affect the case against Trump at all.
