At a rally on Saturday (July 9) night in Anchorage, Alaska, former President Donald Trump didn’t spare Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), who is facing reelection in November, calling her “worse than a Democrat.”
Trump made his remarks while campaigning on behalf of Sarah Palin — who is seeking to take the state’s sole House seat — and Kelly Tshibaka — who plans to take the Senate from Murkowski.
Despite campaigning for America First candidates, Trump spent most of his speech focused on Murkowski’s shortcomings, calling her a “lousy Senator” in the opening remarks of his stump speech.
“She’s a total creature of the Washington swamp, but much worse than that, and a tool of a corrupt establishment, the likes of which we’ve never seen. The fake news media loves her,” Trump asserted.
The former President then called Murkowski out for opposing the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh but joining Democrats and two Republicans to confirm Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court bid.
Trump also criticized Murkowski for voting to pass the bipartisan gun safety legislation in the wake of high-profile mass shootings in Buffalo, N.Y., and Uvalde, Texas.
But pointing to the November midterms, Trump told the crowd, “This is your precious chance to dump the horrific RINO Senator Lisa Murkowski, who’s worse than a Democrat,” repeating that Murkowski is “worse than a Democrat.”
The term RINO, “Republicans in Name Only,” which Trump coined to refer to Republicans who go against his view of the GOP has become the former President’s greatest insult, but this time Trump went further, also referring to Murkowski as “Biden’s CEO,” a term her described as meaning she is Biden’s “chief enabling officer.”
