(TheIndependentStar.com) – In a shrewd new way to mock his opponent, Kamala Harris, former President Donald Trump has declared that she is “not smart enough” to do a news conference as the Democrat presidential nominee has been avoiding unscripted interviews.

Trump critiqued Harris’s apparent tactic of steering clear of impromptu interviews as the Democratic nominee, Breitbart News reports.
According to a confidant of Harris speaking to Politico’s West Wing Playbook, she has not participated in any interviews or press conferences since her campaign’s inception 18 days ago and may maintain this distance from the press until Labor Day, which is 25 days away.
“Excuse me, what are we doing right now?” Trump questioned during a press event at Mar-a-Lago.
“She’s not doing any news conference. You know why she’s not doing it? Because she can’t do a news conference. She doesn’t know how to do a news conference. She’s not smart enough to do a news conference, Trump declared.
“I’m sorry. We need smart people to lead this country because our country has never been in this danger before, both economically and from an outside perspective,” Trump added.
It seems that evading the press is part of Harris’s strategy, as Democrats acknowledged last week, and this has led to growing impatience among journalists.
“Harris is starting to face more questions about why she isn’t doing more press, which are only bound to grow louder. Our West Wing Playbook colleagues report that her campaign is thinking about setting up a big joint interview with her and Walz — but they’re generally skeptical that such moments provide much electoral value,” Politico Playbook reports on Thursday.
Harris, who often delivers verbose and unclear responses, made two errors in August while speaking spontaneously.
She mistakenly referred to herself as “president” during the late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee’s eulogy and produced a confusing statement during an unscripted remark about a hostage negotiation with Russia.
“This is just an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands the strength that rests in understanding the significance of diplomacy…” she elaborated.
More examples of Harris’s verbose missteps are expected.
Harris might be avoiding media interactions due to apprehension about addressing questions on her progressive policies, Breitbart comments.
There is growing concern about her reliability as she appears to be retracting support for various policies she once advocated, yet neither Harris nor her campaign representatives have publicly affirmed these shifts in policy stance, the report adds.
