(TheIndependentStar.com) – Hypocrisy definitely rides high in Washington, and it favors Joe Biden as Donald Trump lambasted Biden for his interview with the special counsel investigating the handling of classified documents found in a former office of Biden’s and his Delaware home.
“I see that Crooked Joe Biden is working on his documents situation. He moved documents, many classified all over the place, for years, including CHINATOWN,” Trump wrote on TruthSocial. “He even took documents as a Senator, an absolute no, no! I come under the Presidential Records Act, he doesn’t — a big difference!!! I did nothing wrong, he did and so many others.”
Trump’s response came after the White House announced that Biden had participated in an interview with special counsel Robert Hur, who is overseeing the investigation into the handling of classified documents.
The White House has maintained that Biden was supposedly not involved in any wrongdoing related to the documents.
Questions about the presence of classified documents from Biden’s time as vice president and senator in his possession emerged last year. It remains unclear how many documents were seized by investigators and whether this has impacted the length of the investigation.
Biden’s legal team reported discovering several classified documents mixed in with other papers in a storage closet while cleaning out a Washington office used by Biden after leaving the vice presidency. Additionally, classified documents, some dating back to his time in the Senate, were found during a search of Biden’s Delaware home.
The appointment of special counsel Robert Hur followed mounting political pressure on Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate the matter further. This move occurred approximately two months after Garland appointed Jack Smith as a special counsel to investigate President Trump’s handling of classified government documents at his Mar-a-Lago residence.
Smith has brought forth 37 criminal counts against Trump, including unauthorized retention of national security secrets and obstruction of justice. President Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing, characterizing the charges as a political maneuver to undermine his potential 2024 presidential campaign.
