Trump isn’t backing down.
As former President Donald Trump’s statements on former Vice President Mike Pence and pardoning those involved in Jan 6 riots made headlines, the former President had plenty to say about the “fake news media.”
In a statement released on Tuesday (February 1), the former President criticized the “fake news media” for failing to report on the “record-setting” amount contributed to his Save America political action committee.
The $122 million raised, which Trump lauded for breaking records, took center stage, as the former President wrote: “The Fake News Media has done everything in their power not to report the record setting $122 million that has been raised for Save America and publicly announced last night, they hate that I broke all records.”
He went on to call out specific publications, saying that “The Failing New York Times” refused to acknowledge “that the power of the Trump endorsement is far stronger today than ever before,” as he stated it remains “virtually unblemished.”
The statement also continued with Trump saying the nation could “never be strong again unless we have an honest, open, and fair media,” but lamented that this seemed unlikely as the “media is largely fake and corrupt.” He proceeded to write: “The people of our Country demand the truth!”
According to Trump’s most recent Federal Election Commission filings, the former President’s political committee has hauled in $51 million in the second half of 2021, giving the Republican’s committees over $122 million cash on hand.
