Besides criticism from Democrats, Texas Governor Greg Abbott received unlikely negative feedback for bussing migrants to liberal cities from former President Donald Trump’s White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon.

On Thursday (December 29), Bannon railed against Abbott for relocating migrants to Washington, D.C., on Christmas Eve in Freezing temperatures, describing Abbott as “gutless.”

Abbott has recently come under fire for relocating undocumented migrants and asylum seekers to Democrat-led cities.

Liberals criticized the Christmas Eve relocating of migrants, describing it as a “cruel” stunt that is only politically motivated, but Bannon is one of the few voices from within the GOP criticizing Abbott’s actions.

Taking to right-wing social media app, Gettr, Bannon — a long-time ally of Trump — posted that Abbott should “stop busing illegal aliens into the interior of America.”

Instead, Bannon demanded that Abbott bus migrants “BACK to the interior of Mexico,” saying that Abbott was “more gutless Republican Establishment shuffle…”

Bannon’s criticism is a far cry from the typical criticism Abbott has received for bussing migrants to Washington, D.C., and dropping them off near Vice President Kamala Harris’s official residence.

The White House released a scathing statement, censuring Abbott because he “abandoned children on the side of the road.”

Bannon also hasn’t shared the same disparaging point of view about bussing migrants to Democrat-led cities with other Republican Governors.

When Florida Governor Ron DeSantis flew Migrants to Martha’s Vineyard in September, Bannon praised the effort, describing DeSantis as a “national leader.”

The contrast in messaging points to animosity between Abbott and Bannon.
