(TheIndependentStar.com) – In the past decade, the division in Congress has largely been along party lines, but there are still a few senators and representatives who refuse to blindly follow the herd. It doesn’t happen often, but it is taking place right now in the Senate.
Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Krysten Sinema (D-AZ) are opposing the current spending bill that party leaders are trying to push through. Both have been willing to speak out against multiple points in the Democratic agenda in the past.
On the September 19 airing of Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke highly of Manchin and Sinema for their willingness to go beyond party lines and stand up against what Cruz calls a catastrophic spending bill. He also praised them both for having the courage to think in a bipartisan manner.

The legislation, billed by the Left as having a $3.5 trillion price tag, will likely come in at a cost closer to $5 trillion, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. Manchin has said the risk of passing such a large bill is too high for future generations. Cruz said he hopes both senators stand their ground against the pressure Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is putting on them.
