According to an analysis of President Joe Biden’s schedule, the President has spent nearly 40 percent of 2022 on getaways from the White House.

The Daily Caller reported that Biden spent 141 days (38.6 percent) on getaways from the White House.

Most of those days or partial days (92 days) Biden spent in Delaware, where in 2020, he ran much of his campaign from the basement of his Delaware home.

The rest of the days Biden spent in:

• Camp David (32 days/partial days)
• South Carolina (7 days)
• Nantucket, Massachusetts (5 days)
• U.S. Virgin Islands (5 days)

Spending time away from the White House isn’t unprecedented, but Biden’s propensity to spend time away from the White House put him on track to outpace the record of every President.

By October 2022, Biden had spent more time away from the White House than his predecessor, former President Donald Trump.

Scrutiny on Biden’s time away from the White House comes as the former President visited the U.S. Virgin Islands while the nation experienced a deadly deep freeze.

But the White House justified the President’s time away from Washington, D.C., with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre explaining the President was “going to go spend time with his family,” noting that it wasn’t “unusual” for Presidents to do this.

The White House also rationalized Biden’s time away, saying time away from Washington, D.C., doesn’t equate to a vacation.

Deputy White House press secretary Andrew Bates also defended Biden’s time away, claiming being President was a “nonstop job” that Biden could perform from anywhere.

Bates also asserted that Biden took fewer vacations than is the “modern norm.”
