(TheIndependentStar.com) – The Texas abortion bill has many people talking. Pro-life advocates have seen it as a win, while pro-choice supporters are incredibly upset. Outspoken Democrats have been quick to express their opinions.
On September 7, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) appeared on CNN to voice her disapproval of the new law. During the interview, she made sure to refer to “menstruating people” instead of women, and her use of the phrase caused quite a bit of backlash.
One notable name calling out AOC is former Republican Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin. She appeared on the September 8 Fox News Primetime show where she called the representative a “fake feminist.” Palin also expressed embarrassment for AOC.

The former governor said Ocasio-Cortez is not a “real feminist” who understands that women are equal and can do anything they want. Palin also said AOC has no idea what it’s like to be a mother. She’s disconnected from issues many women face on a daily basis, such as special needs children, veteran children, and pregnant teenagers, all of which Palin has experienced first-hand.
AOC shot back against the criticism saying not only women menstruate, clarifying that her comments included trans and nonbinary individuals. She said the GOP is just upset because it sees a woman’s value as existing solely in her uterus.
