(TheIndependentStar.com) – The United States Postal Service (USPS) teamed up with Elon Musk’s DOGE to fix the bloated USPS by cutting 10,000 jobs and saving billions in taxpayer dollars.
The failing postal service has accumulated nearly $100 billion in losses, with another $200 billion projected, which demonstrates yet another example of government inefficiency that Trump’s administration is finally addressing.
This strategic partnership aims to cut 10,000 workers through voluntary early retirement programs and reduce the USPS operating budget by over $3.5 billion annually, addressing what Postmaster General Louis DeJoy described as a “broken business model.”
DeJoy, who was appointed during Trump’s first term, has already made significant progress by cutting 30,000 workers in 2021.
Conservatives have pointed to the Postal Service as a prime example of government waste and inefficiency for decades.
Meanwhile, President Trump and Elon Musk are taking decisive action to streamline operations and return fiscal responsibility to an agency that has been bleeding money for years.
This new agreement builds on those efforts while addressing systemic issues, such as mismanagement of retirement assets, unfunded mandates, and excessive regulatory restrictions, that have hampered the agency’s ability to operate efficiently.
Moreover, the partnership comes as DeJoy announced his intention to step down as Postmaster General, seeking a successor who will continue these crucial cost-cutting and efficiency efforts.
In a letter to congressional leaders, DeJoy urged lawmakers to engage with USPS and DOGE representatives to address the Postal Service’s challenges.
As expected, Democrats are already crying foul. Congressman Gerald Connolly (D-VA) claimed the partnership would “undermine” and “privatize” the Postal Service.
President Trump has previously suggested placing the USPS under the Department of Commerce, which would bring it under executive branch control and allow for more direct oversight.
At the same time, Musk has publicly stated that the Postal Service should be privatized, a move that would free the agency from burdensome government constraints and allow it to operate efficiently as a private business.
The USPS-DOGE alliance represents another victory in the Trump administration’s efforts to drain the swamp and reduce the size of the federal bureaucracy.
By addressing the Postal Service’s chronic financial problems head-on, Trump and Musk are showing that conservative governance can tackle even the most entrenched government inefficiencies when given the chance.
