This is terrifying.
A report by Fox News revealed that the State Department ordered the families of U.S. Embassy personnel in Ukraine to start evacuating the soviet nation from Monday.
According to U.S. officials, the State Department would also be urging Americans to leave the Soviet country on commercial flights “while those are still available.”
The revelation follows failed talks between Russian and U.S. diplomats and Moscow continuing to increase the number of troops at the Ukraine border, causing many to fear they will be invading.
Following the failed discussions, the U.S. Embassy also announced late on Friday night that the first shipment of ammunition had arrived, based on the direction of President Joe Biden.
The ammunition –– consisting of small arms ammunition making up the bulk of the 200,000 State Department’s lethal aid –– will supposedly be used by front-line Ukraine soldiers. The shipment will be followed by Javelin anti-tank missiles –– supplied by U.S. military stockpiles and Baltic states –– and should arrive as early as next week.
Further substantiating that Russia plans to invade Ukraine, advanced Russian fighter jets will arrive in Belarus, which shares its southern border with Ukraine.
Russia’s bold moves come after the West rejected Moscow’s primary demands, which included a promise Ukraine would never be added as a member of NATO, forces will retreat from Central and Eastern Europe, and alliance weapons would not be deployed near Russian borders.
But after rejecting these demands, the U.S. will continue its plans to move weapons and ammunition into Ukraine in the next few days.
These measures, however, may be a precaution considering both U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov agreed to continue diplomatic negotiations. However, given Friday’s talks weren’t fruitful, Russia will wait on the U.S.’s formal response to Russia’s demands before meeting again.
