(TheIndependentStar.com) – Pilots expect to see other planes, some clouds, and maybe a bird here and there as they fly the big, blue skies. So, when something odd pops up, it quickly becomes news.
Over the past year, pilots have been seeing something they likely never thought they would come across. Flying around 5,000 feet in the air and greeting planes landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is a “guy in a jetpack.”
He has been seen multiple times since August 2020. The latest appearance was on July 29 when air traffic control received a report of a sighting from a Boeing 747 pilot.
Some investigators have suggested this is a drone rather than a man. There are other considerations here too, according to experts; not only are jetpacks incredibly expensive, but finding one that could fly that high would be tough, so they doubt it is a person.
The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating the sightings but it hasn’t validated any of them as a person with a jetpack. Whoever is behind the stunts is sapping the resources of federal agencies and creating concern for officials at LAX. If the identity of the person ever becomes known, he or she will have a lot of questions to answer.
