NOW: Virus SURGING; 91 Outbreaks

The Independent Star Happening Now

(TheIndependentStar.com) – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is sounding the alarm on a dangerous trend: a surge of norovirus outbreaks across America this winter.

This stomach bug, known for causing violent vomiting and diarrhea, is spreading like wildfire, threatening the health of hardworking Americans and their families.

Norovirus cases have skyrocketed, with 91 outbreaks reported in early December, up from 69 in late November.

This sudden spike has caught the attention of health officials, who seem unprepared to handle the situation effectively.

The virus, dubbed the “winter vomiting bug,” is highly contagious and can wreak havoc on communities, especially in confined spaces like cruise ships, nursing homes and schools.

Even more concerning, the CDC admits these numbers are likely underreported.

With only 15 states participating in the National Outbreak Reporting System and no mandatory reporting of individual cases, the true extent of this outbreak remains hidden from the public.

The liberal media may downplay the severity of this outbreak, but the facts speak for themselves.

Norovirus is responsible for 58% of foodborne illnesses in the U.S. every year, causing a staggering 19-21 million illnesses, 109,000 hospitalizations and 900 deaths.

The most effective defense against norovirus is good old-fashioned common sense and hygiene.

Frequent handwashing with soap and water is crucial as hand sanitizers are ineffective against this stubborn virus.

Parents should be especially vigilant, as children under 5 are particularly vulnerable to severe symptoms.

The virus is responsible for nearly a million pediatric medical visits each year. Parents can protect children from this insidious threat by teaching them proper hygiene habits.
