NEW: Widespread Immigration Fraud

(TheIndependentStar.com) – After reports revealed widespread fraud in the system, the Biden-Harris Administration finally stopped the controversial program that let thousands of illegals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela (CHNV) fly directly into the U.S. each month.

According to Fox News, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has paused this program, which was designed to allow up to 30,000 illegals from these countries to enter the U.S. each month. Critics had argued that this use of parole was illegal.

Congress discovered that an internal report revealed “large amounts of fraud in applications for those sponsoring the applicants.” The report focused on issues with the sponsor filings rather than the applications from the migrants themselves.

Moreover, a DHS spokesperson said the department takes abuse very seriously, “Where fraud is identified, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will investigate and litigate applicable cases in immigration court and make criminal referrals to the Department of Justice.”

“Out of an abundance of caution, DHS has temporarily paused the issuance of advanced travel authorizations for new beneficiaries while it undertakes a review of supporter applications. DHS will restart application processing as quickly as possible, with appropriate safeguards,” the spokesperson continued.

In addition, the report showed that forms used in the program included social security numbers, addresses, and phone numbers that had been reused hundreds of times.

It also revealed that 100,948 forms were filled out by 3,218 serial sponsors, with some numbers appearing on 20 or more forms. Additionally, 24 of the top 1,000 most-used numbers belonged to deceased individuals.

Over 19,000 forms, including storage units, used some physical addresses between 124 and 739 times. One phone number was used on over 2,000 forms, and 2,839 forms included non-existent sponsor zip codes.

Furthermore, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) said this discovery “vindicates every warning we have ever issued about the unlawful CHNV mass-parole program.”

He also slammed former DHS Secretary Mayorkas for misleading the public about the vetting process.

“We issued a subpoena last year to compel documents regarding this program, and while DHS partially complied, the department remains delinquent in producing certain documents and communications relating to the program,” Green said.

He also argued that the Biden-Harris mass-parole program was illegal and designed to avoid the “political embarrassment and bad optics of overrun borders.”
