(TheIndependentStar.com) – Feeling emboldened under its socialist leadership, Mexico fired back at President Donald Trump’s executive order to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.”
Part of Trump’s plan to bring “common sense to government,” this initiative has sparked controversy and resistance from Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Unsurprisingly, the Mexican government has pushed back against this assertion of American sovereignty.
Sheinbaum stubbornly insisted, “So what corresponds to the continental shelf of the United States, which they call the ‘Gulf of America,’ for us is still the Gulf of Mexico. And for the whole world, it will continue to be the Gulf of Mexico.”
She has even gone as far as mocking the United States by suggesting it should be renamed Mexican America.
This resistance highlights the ongoing opposition Trump faces in dealing with foreign leaders who refuse to acknowledge America’s rightful place as a global superpower.
Trump announced the historic name change during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago, emphasizing the importance of this body of water to America’s economy and future.
“We’re going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring that covers a lot of territory, the Gulf of America. What a beautiful name. And it’s appropriate. It’s appropriate,” Trump declared.
The executive order tasks U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum with updating federal maps to reflect the new name.
This move showcases Trump’s willingness to use executive power to cut through bureaucratic red tape and enact meaningful change for the American people.
Trump previously discussed the name change while talking about corruption in Mexico.
“We have a massive deficit with Mexico and we help Mexico a lot. They’re essentially run by the cartels. And we can’t let that happen. Mexico is really in trouble. A lot of trouble. A very dangerous place,” the president said.
Trump’s decision to rename the Gulf is part of a broader vision to reassert American influence across the globe.
The president has previously expressed interest in expanding U.S. territory, suggesting Canada become the 51st state and exploring the acquisition of Greenland.
He has also mentioned the possibility of retaking control of the Panama Canal, demonstrating his commitment to protecting American interests abroad.
The Gulf of Mexico, soon to be known as the Gulf of America, is the ninth-largest body of water in the world and plays a crucial role in U.S. petroleum refining and seafood supply.
By renaming this vital waterway, Trump is sending a clear message about America’s dominance in the region and his commitment to securing the nation’s economic interests.
While liberal critics and foreign leaders may object to this bold move, millions of Americans understand the importance of asserting the country’s sovereignty and protecting its interests.
