(TheIndependentStar.com) – Framing her stance as the peak of “individual freedom,” Melania Trump’s unexpected pro-choice support sparks intrigue as she stands for women’s reproductive rights.

In a revealing interview on the “Some Future Day” podcast, Melania expressed her support for women’s autonomy over their bodies.

“I feel and I believe that the individual freedom is the most important aspect of life. You need to be in charge of your own body — nobody else but yourself,” Melania stated.

As the first Republican first lady to stand for abortion rights, her statements contrast with her husband’s as he navigates another political campaign.

While GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has shifted his views on abortion over his career, Melania’s consistent pro-choice stance is a major development.

The First Lady believes that terminating a pregnancy should be a matter solely between a woman and her doctor.

“Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body?” she wondered.

“A woman’s fundamental right of individual liberty, to her own life, grants her the authority to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes,” Melania said.

Simply titled “Melania,” her upcoming memoir is set to shed light on her thoughts on the topic.

Melania argues for empathy and compassion when talking about reproductive issues, underscoring that the government should not intrude in any woman’s personal life.

As the abortion debate remains a critical issue for voters, with states enforcing stricter regulations, Melania stands firm in her belief that women should remain in control of their reproductive choices.

“It is imperative to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding their preference of having children, based on their own convictions, free from any intervention or pressure from the government,” Melania expressed

Though her intention is not to sway political outcomes, Melania’s advocacy could appeal to some swing state voters in favor of her husband’s candidacy.
