Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA.) both believe President Joe Biden should run for reelection in 2024, describing the President’s first two years at the helm as “excellent.”

Pelosi and Schumer made the comments during their first joint sit-down interview. The interview was conducted by CNN’s Jamie Gangel at the Hynan Dynasty on Capitol Hill, a Chinese restaurant where the Congressional Leaders have been sharing meals for years.

Pelosi asserted Biden had done an “excellent job” during his years at the Oval Office.

She said of the 80-year-old President that he had a “great vision” for the country, adding that his years in politics had given him the necessary “knowledge” of the “challenges” and “issues” faced by the U.S.

Pelosi went on to describe Biden as “the most empathetic President,” touting his “vision, knowledge, and strategic thinking.”

In response to the same question about whether or not Biden should run again, Schumer responded that Biden had done an “excellent job.”

The pair also discussed former President Donald Trump, predicting that Trump wouldn’t win his third attempt at the White House.

Instead, Schumer asserted that Americans had “gotten wise” to Trump, explaining that although it had taken “a little while,” it had finally happened.

He also shared his belief that Democrats performed better during the midterms because voters had seen the Capitol riot and the “danger” Trump posed to Democracy.

However, Schumer was quick to end the conversation about Trump, saying that he shouldn’t be discussed “while we’re eating.”
