Liz Cheney Threatens Criminal Charges To Anyone Who Doesn't Follow January 6th Committee Orders

(TheIndependentStar.com) – The events that took place on January 6 at the US Capitol are still under scrutiny as the House Select Committee continues its investigation. The group is now moving forward with subpoenas on some former Trump administration members.

One of the only Republicans on the committee, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) warned on October 12 that the panel would not hesitate to hold individuals in contempt for not responding. On October 13, during an appearance on MSNBC, Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) stated the Committee might deploy US Marshals to make subpoenaed individuals show up in front of the group.

Cheney has a rocky relationship with the GOP, due in part to her involvement with the investigation. She is no fan of former President Donald Trump and was one of the few Republicans who voted to impeach him. The representative is now serving as the vice-chair of the January 6 committee.

The committee issued subpoenas to former Defense Department official Kash Patel, former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, former Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, and former White House advisor Steve Bannon. Bannon has already refused to speak to the committee and faces threats of legal action against him. Patel and Meadows are on the schedule to appear sometime this week.
