(TheIndependentStar.com) – The Islamic Republic of Iran has been hit with a warning by influential GOP US Senator Lindsey Graham, who declared that if the Iranians escalate the war their terrorist proxies are already waging on US ally Israel, America will come after them in full force.
Graham’s warning comes just as Israel is preparing a ground offensive in the Gaza Strip to destroy the Hamas terrorist network, an Iranian ally, which attacked it on October 7, killing over 1,300 civilians, including more than two dozen Americans.
The South Carolina Republican used strong language against the Iranians in an interview with the NBC News program “Meet the Press” on Sunday.
“I just got off the phone with the Israelis. Their goal is to destroy Hamas in the south and try to save as many innocent Palestinians as possible to prevent escalation north from Hezbollah,” Graham stated.
While Hamas is a Palestinian Islamist terrorist group based mainly in the Gaza Strip, a tiny enclave of 2.2 million people, Hezbollah is a more extensive Islamist Shiite network in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.
“Here’s my message. If Hezbollah, which is a proxy of Iran, launches a massive attack on Israel, I would consider that a threat to the state of Israel, existential in nature,” the South Carolina senator said. “I will introduce a resolution in the United States Senate to allow military action by the United States in conjunction with Israel to knock Iran out of the oil business. Iran, if you escalate this war, we’re coming for you,” Graham added.
As Israel has been destroying Hamas targets with air strikes on the Gaza Strip, the Hezbollah group has engaged in combat against Northern Israel.
When asked if he was prepared to declare war on Iran, the GOP senator said America should use military force to destroy Iran’s funding to Hamas and Hezbollah.
“I am poised to use military force to destroy the source of funding for Hamas and Hezbollah. The idea that Iran read about this operation in the paper, or on television is laughable,” Graham said.
“Ninety-three percent of Hezbollah and Hamas’s money comes from Iran. They’re the source of the problem. They’re the great evil. So, if Hezbollah escalates against Israel, it will be because Iran told them to. Then Iran, you’re in the crosshairs of the United States and Israel,” the Republican lawmaker concluded.
