‘It Stops; It Stops Today’ – Attorney General Pam Bondi

(TheIndependentStar.com) – Since the liberal bastion of New York decided to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens, the Trump administration had no other choice but to sue the state.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the charges, accusing New York of prioritizing its liberal agenda and endangering public safety.

Bondi is leading the charge against New York’s sanctuary policies, declaring, “New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops. It stops today.”

Specifically, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched a lawsuit against New York State over the controversial “Green Light Law” that allows illegals to obtain driver’s licenses.

This bold move by the Trump administration aims to enforce federal immigration laws and protect the nation’s security.

The lawsuit explicitly targets New York Governor Kathy Hochul and New York Attorney General Letitia James for their roles in carrying out and defending these dangerous policies that undermine federal immigration enforcement efforts.

The Green Light Law, which allows illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses, has been a controversial issue since the beginning.

The DOJ argues that this law not only defies established federal immigration enforcement requirements but also poses significant national security risks.

By limiting the Department of Motor Vehicles’ (DMV) ability to share information with federal immigration authorities, New York is effectively shielding illegal aliens from detection and deportation.

One of the most alarming aspects of New York’s law is its “tip-off” provision. Bondi explained, “It’s tipping off an illegal alien, and it’s unconstitutional, and that’s why we filed this lawsuit.”

This provision requires New York’s DMV commissioner to quickly inform any illegal alien when a federal immigration agency has requested their information, directly obstructing federal law enforcement efforts.

The lawsuit is part of a broader federal effort to enforce immigration laws and remove illegals charged or convicted of crimes.

The DOJ has already taken action against other sanctuary jurisdictions, freezing funding and planning to withhold federal support from organizations that aid illegal aliens.

This lawsuit sends a clear message that no state is above federal law when it comes to immigration enforcement.

Both Hochul and James have predictably defended their state’s reckless policies.

James claimed, “Our state laws, including the Green Light law, protect the rights of all New Yorkers and keep our communities safe.”

However, this ignores the rights and safety of law-abiding American citizens who are put at risk by these sanctuary policies.

Meanwhile, Hochul stated, “Here are the facts: our current laws allow federal immigration officials to access any DMV database with a judicial warrant. That’s a common-sense approach that most New Yorkers support.”

“But there’s no way I’m letting federal agents, or Elon Musk’s shadowy DOGE operation, get unfettered access to the personal data of any New Yorker in the DMV system like 16-year-old kids learning to drive and other vulnerable people,” she added.

The federal government has already seized over $80 million from New York’s accounts, intended for housing for illegals.

This action and the DOJ lawsuit show that the era of unchecked illegal immigration and state defiance of federal law is coming to an end.

As this legal battle unfolds, the Trump administration is taking decisive action to protect American citizens and uphold the rule of law.

The lawsuit against New York serves as a warning to other sanctuary jurisdictions that their defiance of federal immigration laws will no longer be tolerated.
