(TheIndependentStar.com) – Following the devastating wildfires destroying Los Angeles, 95-year-old iconic actress Dalyce Curry, known for her roles in “The Blues Brothers” and “The Ten Commandments,” died during such tragedy.
See the video below.
Curry, a beloved figure from Old Black Hollywood of the 1950s, met her untimely end in her Altadena home as wildfires ravaged the area.
The actress’s great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, confirmed the heartbreaking news via Facebook, sharing footage of the destruction that claimed Curry’s life and property.
The fires, which have already claimed at least 24 lives and left 16 people missing, have forced the evacuation of 150,000 residents.
This catastrophe marks the most destructive firestorm in Los Angeles’ history, with thousands of structures affected and 70,000 customers left without power.
While California’s liberal leadership wrings its hands over climate change, they have neglected basic wildfire prevention measures.
The combination of extreme dry conditions, drought, and Santa Ana winds has created a perfect storm for these devastating fires.
Yet, instead of proper forest management and controlled burns, the state’s resources have been diverted to “green” initiatives that do little to protect citizens from immediate threats.
Adding insult to injury, two individuals have been arrested for arson in connection with the fires, including 29-year-old Ruben Montes.
Governor Gavin Newsom has focused on expediting rebuilding efforts rather than addressing the root causes of these recurring disasters.
“One thing I won’t give in to is delay. Delay is denial for people. Lives, traditions, places, torn apart, torn asunder. Families, schools, community centres,” Governor Newsom said.
His executive order to speed up reconstruction glosses over the fact that proper preventative measures could have mitigated or even prevented this tragedy.
Curry’s death is not just a loss for Hollywood but a stark reminder of the consequences of governmental failure.
The actress, who her family described as active and energetic despite her age, deserved better protection from the state she called home.
Instead, she became another victim of California’s misplaced priorities and ineffective leadership.
