(TheIndependentStar.com) – In a new massive product recall, Chinese company Govee has recalled nearly 600,000 smart space heaters amid multiple fire incidents, raising serious safety concerns about products flooding American homes from overseas companies.

This recall highlights a deeper problem of products not meeting essential safety standards, risking fire hazards that threaten American families.

Govee has recalled 512,500 electric space heaters in the United States following overheating complaints leading to safety risks.

An additional 48,600 units were recalled in Canada, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

These recalled heaters, models H7130 through H7135, were sold extensively on platforms like Amazon and TikTok Shop from September 2021 to September 2024.

Despite their popularity, the smart space heaters have been linked to 113 overheating incidents, resulting in seven fires and a minor burn injury.

Federal safety officials have emphasized the urgency of this recall, warning customers of the potential dangers.

The heaters, presenting a significant fire hazard, put countless households at risk.

Nearly 600,000 GoveeLife and Govee smart electric space heaters sold online by retailers including Amazon and TikTok Shop are being recalled because they can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards, federal safety officials said Thursday, cited by Dnyuz.

The affected heaters, which failed to meet UL 1278 safety standards, are available in black and white, ranging from 9 to 26 inches in height.

They brim with modern branding—”Govee” or “GoveeLife”—and are equipped with wireless control features that posed the overheating risks.

Manufactured in China, they highlight the concerns with foreign-made products that don’t adhere to stringent safety norms.

The company said the heaters do not comply with the voluntary industry safety standard, UL 1278, due to issues with wireless control features that can lead to overheating, Local12 reports.

Customers are urged to stop using these heaters immediately and contact Govee for refunds.

The recall process involves unplugging the heater, cutting the power cord, and sending a photo of the destroyed unit and label to Govee.

Refunds vary, with full compensation for customers providing the original order number.
