(TheIndependentStar.com) – In a remarkable move designed to establish the responsibility for the assassination attempts against Donald Trump, America First Legal (AFL), a conservative organization, is currently investigating whether the Biden-Harris administration monitored Ryan Wesley Routh, who tried to kill Trump on Sunday.
On Tuesday, AFL declared the initiation of a comprehensive investigation to uncover any documents the administration might hold regarding Routh.
This inquiry was spurred by reports of Routh’s anti-Trump sentiments, prompting AFL to inquire if the government was tracking him, as stated in a press release cited by The Daily Caller.
The group is seeking all documents related to Routh to ascertain whether the government was aware of any threat he might pose to Trump.
“Routh had a decades-long criminal history, publicly offered to facilitate deploying foreign fighters to Ukraine, and vocally criticized President Trump online – even immediately after the first assassination attempt,” according to the FOIAs submitted by AFL.
Records have been requested from nine different agencies and departments including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), Department of Justice (DOJ), Department of Defense (DOD), Department of State (DOS), Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).
The Caller, a news outlet, has reached out to these agencies but had not received any comments at the time this article was published.
The White House was also contacted for a statement but has not yet responded.
“In just a few months, the American people witnessed two assassination attempts of former President Donald Trump,” Gene Hamilton, the Executive Director of AFL, stated on Tuesday.
“Undoubtedly, based on public reporting about the attempted assassin in Florida, the Biden-Harris government has records that the American public is entitled to see,” he added.
Hamilton expressed that it is highly unusual for someone to be involved in a foreign conflict and attempting to recruit others to join without being noticed by someone.
On Monday, prosecutors filed two firearm-related charges against Routh in federal court. These charges include possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, as reported by Reuters.
Earlier in July, following the initial assassination attempt on Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, AFL had conducted another investigation.
They sought information from DHS and the Secret Service through FOIAs, emphasizing the right of the American people to know whether requests for additional security resources had been denied.
