(TheIndependentStar.com) – As more and more questions are arising over the second failed assassination attempt against Donald Trump, a report has pointed out one of the biggest unknowns, namely, how the suspect, 58-year-old Ryan Routh, knew about the former president’s golf outing.
The fact that a man was able to bring a rifle within a few hundred yards of the Republican presidential candidate while he was on a golf course has sparked not just one but four separate investigations by various agencies.
The central issue these investigations seek to unravel is how Routh was aware of the golf outing—its timing and location—despite it not being made public, WND stresses in a report.
According to a Washington Examiner report, within hours after the Secret Service detected a rifle barrel in the bushes of the golf course and detained a suspect, the FBI, Secret Service, the state of Florida, and Congress had all launched inquiries into the incident.
The FBI has taken a significant role in these investigations, announcing, “The FBI has responded to West Palm Beach Florida and is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Trump.”
In a related move, the Secret Service is examining its procedures, which gains added importance considering this is the second attempt on Trump’s life in recent weeks.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also confirmed that Florida would conduct its independent investigation, stating, “The state of Florida will be conducting its own investigation regarding the attempted assassination at Trump International Golf Club. The people deserve the truth about the would-be assassin and how he was able to get within 500 yards of the former president and current GOP nominee.”
Additionally, a congressional task force initially set up to investigate a previous assassination attempt on Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, announced it would expand its scope.
Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA), and Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), jointly stated, “The Task Force is monitoring this attempted assassination of former President Trump in West Palm Beach this afternoon. We have requested a briefing with the U.S. Secret Service about what happened and how security responded.”
Questions linger about how the details of Trump’s activities were known.
Chris Swecker, former assistant FBI director, suggested insider information might have played a part, especially since the golf event was unplanned and unannounced.
The Daily Mail underscored this by noting the outing “was not publicly known about as it was a last-minute decision.”
