Hero Saves 14 Children!

HAPPENING NOW

(TheIndependentStar.com) – In a heroic deed, a bus driver from Colorado saved 14 children by quickly evacuating them from a burning school bus.

See the tweet below.

According to Aurora Fire Rescue, the driver saw the bus was on fire through the dashboard and immediately pulled over to get the kids out,

A press release stated that when firefighters arrived, “the bus was fully engulfed in flames,” and the driver’s quick response “were crucial in ensuring everyone’s safety.”

Fire investigators determined the blaze was accidental and started in the engine compartment. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

“We are extremely grateful that no one was injured,” the Aurora School District said.

They also mentioned that once they were informed about the fire, they called emergency services and used another bus to pick up the children.

“We want to give our utmost thanks to our bus driver for his awareness and quick action. His response kept everyone safe. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” the district added.

Furthermore, this incident is not the first close call involving a school bus, as on April 17, a bus in South Jersey caught fire moments after the driver and students had exited.

Students reported smelling smoke and hearing a loud bang before they evacuated. “We smelled it and saw it, so we got off. It was kinda all fast,” said Regan Capone, a 13-year-old.

Earlier this year, on March 13, a 28-year-old bus driver from Louisiana, Kia Rousseve, faced a similar situation when her bus began to lose power suddenly.

“The bus started acting crazy and started jerking and going real, real slow,” Rousseve said. Realizing the danger, she acted on her maternal instincts.

“I have a child, so I thought about them kids like it was my own child,” she added.

Her quick thinking paid off as the bus went up in flames just moments after she and all nine students had exited the vehicle.
