(TheIndependentStar.com) – In a distressing incident, Michelle Beisner-Buck, a seasoned NFL features reporter for ESPN, was injured after her husband, infamous sports announcer Joe Buck, shattered her ankle with a golf shot.
The event unfolded when Joe accidentally struck Michelle’s ankle with a golf ball, leading to severe injury.
Adam Schefter, a fellow ESPN colleague, reported on Wednesday that Michelle underwent surgical intervention to mend a fractured ankle resulting from the mishap.
“Getting ready to roll back,” Michelle Beisner-Buck conveyed to Schefter via text, cited by The New York Post.
Since joining ESPN in 2014, Beisner-Buck has become well-known for her role on “Monday Night Countdown.”
Her background includes a notable stint as a cheerleader for the Broncos.
Joe Buck, renowned for his broadcasting acumen, made his ESPN debut as the play-by-play announcer for “Monday Night Football” in 2022.
He shares this platform with Troy Aikman, a color commentator and his long-time associate from their days at Fox Sports.
The couple, married in 2014, are parents to twin sons, Blake and Wyatt, born in 2018.
Joe also has two daughters, Trudy and Natalie, from a previous marriage.
A significant motive for Joe’s transition to ESPN was the opportunity to spend more time with Michelle during the football season, a time traditionally marked by their separation.
“It dawned on us that we’re actually gonna have no time apart. I don’t know what this is going to do for my marriage and our relationship, but we’ll just have to roll the dice and hope that it makes it stronger — instead of ending it,” Joe humorously remarked during a 2022 interview.
This recent incident marks the second injury involving an ESPN colleague that Schefter has reported in recent weeks.
Earlier, he relayed the news of NFL reporter Field Yates, who sustained a shoulder injury in August.
Yates was injured while participating in an event to determine the draft order for his fantasy football league during the ESPN Fantasy Ultimate Draft Weekend in the Bahamas.
“While engaging in an activity to determine the draft order in his fantasy football league at @espnfantasy Ultimate Draft Weekend in the Bahamas, Yates dislocated his shoulder, per sources,” Schefter noted on X.
“The injury resulted in a brief hospitalization, but Yates now has been discharged, and is aiming to be ready for opening day,” he added.
