They won’t stand a chance.

With the national average for a gallon of gas over $5, Senate Republicans have already started targeting Democrats in two critical battleground states over soaring gas prices.

On Friday (June 17), the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) unveiled a 7-figure ad campaign in Nevada.

In the ads, the GOP takes aim at first-term Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto.
However, the ads don’t stop in Nevada, the GOP has also set its sights on another swing state: Pennsylvania. This time they’re criticizing a Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, the Democratic candidate for Senate.

The ads in question pay specific attention to linking the candidates to President Joe Biden, a move that the GOP hopes will cause the candidates to be weighed down by Biden’s underwater polling.

In the Pennsylvania ad, a narrator states, “When Joe Biden was elected, gas cost $2.43. Biden started choking oil production his very first day. Now five bucks a gallon. John Fetterman backs Biden and parts of the Green New Deal.”

Using audio in which Fetterman says, “I’m proud to run on the same ticket as Joe Biden,” before the narrator cuts in, arguing that “you’re out of gas. Biden’s out of time. Fetterman’s out of the question.”

In Nevada, another state that could determine which party controls the Senate, the NSRC is taking a similar approach, spending $1.3 million to run ads in English and Spanish.

The English ad states, “In Nevada, gas, and grocery prices are out of control. The cause: President Biden’s wasteful spending bill.”

The narrator continues, “And Catherine Cortez Masto cast the deciding vote. In fact, she votes with Biden over 95% of the time. She votes with him. We pay the price. Time to cast the deciding vote against Catherine Cortez Masto.”

Both ads are set to run until June 30.
