Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) isn’t taking any of the blame the left is attempting to assign to Republicans for the border crisis, calling out the media for its recent rhetoric about the border crisis.
On Tuesday (December 20), in an episode of Jesse Watters primetime, Abbott reacted to a clip doing the rounds of him speaking to ABC reporter Martha Raddatz about the U.S.-Mexico Border.
In the clip Abbott was reacting to, Raddatz asserted she had never heard the Biden Administration describe the U.S.-Mexico Border as an “open border” and only heard that verbiage from former President Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and Abbott.
But Abbott recounted to Watters that Raddatz’s claims that the “open border” was the kind of language reverberating through “Mexico and beyond” and leveraged by smuggling cartels were untrue, asserting it is “crazy to suggest anything like that.”
Instead, Abbott stated it was claims like that that showed the “mainstream media… [is] really clueless about what’s going on at the border.”
He also asserted that Biden’s spokesperson was just as “clueless” when claiming the border wasn’t open.
Abbott also compared the Biden administration’s border policies to Trump’s, pointing to Trump enacting Title 42, “Remain in Mexico,” and ending the “catch-and-release” policy in addition to supporting the construction of a border wall.
He touted Trump’s policies, crediting them with achieving the “lowest border crossings since last century,” but criticized Biden for having “far more record-setting numbers” of migrants crossing the southern border.
Watters queried if Abbott gave Rabbatz an ariel view of the border to give her insight into the situation, which Abbott revealed he had, before reiterating that Biden was “doing nothing” about the border crossings.
