The battle between former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is intensifying and many members of the GOP are being called to pick their side ahead of next year’s election.
DeSantis, 44, bragged that his 2024 presidential launch “broke” Twitter Spaces. DeSantis was scheduled to announce his presidential campaign during a live stream on Twitter Spaces, with Twitter CEO Elon Musk. For months, DeSantis’s participation in the presidential election was highly anticipated. However, the live stream did not go according to plan and was marred with technical difficulties, which have widely been stated to have been the result of the high number of people who wanted to see the stream.
Trump, 76, is currently leading every national poll for the 2024 Republican primary. Prior to his official entry in the race, DeSantis has had to fend off multiple attacks from Trump, who even called his campaign launch “disastrous.” Many Republican strategists have encouraged DeSantis to fight back, as for the most part, his reluctance to respond has helped Trump increase the distance between them in the primary polls.
On Thursday, DeSantis’ told Good Morning NH that much of what Trump is trying to do shows that he believes there is a chance he will lose. DeSantis added that the former president does not criticize everyone else, which shows that he does not believe anyone else has a chance of beating him. The Florida governor claimed that what makes him such an effective candidate is the fact that he has such a solid record of achievement, which makes them aware that he is “more likely to win the election.”
