(TheIndependentStar.com) – Joe Biden has fallen prey to cruel mocking, and from no other than billionaire Elon Musk, as the X owner compared Biden to the “corpse” in “Weekend at Bernie’s,” a 1989 dark comedy film.
Musk’s ridicule of the president occurred after Biden criticized Musk’s management of X, the former Twitter, suggesting that fake news and disinformation have become more prevalent after the Tesla and SpaceX founder took over the social media platform.
“The corpse in Weekend at Bernie’s literally looks more alive than Biden,” Musk wrote.
His comment replied to a video excerpt from the president’s interview with journalist John Harwood from the leftist news outlet ProPublica.
“Weekend at Bernie’s,” a comedy directed by Ted Kotcheff, the director of “Rambo: First Blood,” features characters bringing a dead man’s corpse with them as though he was alive so as not to ruin their plans.
In his interview with ProPublica, published on Sunday, Biden complained about “Twitter’s transformation into X,” The Washington Times notes in a report.
“What about what Elon Musk has done to Twitter, lowering guardrails against misinformation, does that contribute to it?” Harwood asked, referring to security threats.
“Yeah, it does,” the president replied.
He added that if he hadn’t run for president, he would have written a book about how technology has changed society, starting with 15th-century German inventor Johannes Gutenberg and his printing press.
Biden lamented what he claimed was X’s lack of editors to weed out misinformation.
“Where do people get their news? They go on the internet, they go online, and you have no notion whether it’s true or not,” the president stated.
The Times points out that Biden’s criticism of Musk’s X and the latter’s ridicule of the president “escalated the war of words” between them.
The billionaire’s comparison of the president to a corpse comes after last week, Musk visited the Southern Border to view first-hand the nation’s massive illegal immigrant invasion unfolding on Biden’s watch.
The X owner said Border Patrol officers had told him that the US-Mexican border became wide open two years ago, that is, during Biden’s first year in the White House.
