Doomsday Clock Moves Closer to ‘Global Catastrophe’

(TheIndependentStar.com) – Ringing alarm bells about humanity’s precarious position, the so-called “Doomsday Clock” has been set to 89 seconds to midnight, the closest it has ever been to global catastrophe.

This fear-mongering tool, created by left-leaning scientists, is being used once again to push a liberal agenda of climate alarmism and anti-nuclear hysteria.

The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, founded by figures like Albert Einstein and J. Robert Oppenheimer, announced this change in Washington, DC.

This group of self-appointed doomsayers claims that nuclear risks, climate change, and disruptive technologies are pushing the world closer to the brink.

The clock’s creators claim to be objective scientists, but their liberal bias is clear. Since 2007, they have made climate change a significant factor in their doomsday predictions, parroting the left’s favorite boogeyman.

Daniel Holz, the chair of the Bulletin’s Science and Security Board, which sets the clock, said in a news conference:

“We set the clock closer to midnight because we do not see sufficient positive progress on the global challenges we face, including nuclear risk, climate change, biological threats and advances in disruptive technologies.”

Meanwhile, the Doomsday Clock has moved 25 times since its inception, with the furthest point from midnight being in 1991 after the Cold War.

The Bulletin affirms that not enough progress has been made against these increasing threats, urging a departure from harmful policies like the U.S. withdrawal from international agreements, which breed instability rather than security.

Environmental degradation and the specter of rising global tensions highlight the need to halt destructive competition among superpowers such as the U.S., China, and Russia.

Bulletin board members also stressed that the threats demand mutual cooperation and long-term visions instead of petty rivalries.

Younger generations, already feeling the strain of inheriting a fractured world, are significantly concerned about climate change and its implications.

Furthermore, disruptive technologies like artificial intelligence employed within military contexts are complicating security dynamics.

Online disinformation, threatening democratic values by eroding public trust, adds another layer of complexity to this existential crisis.
