On Saturday (April 1), during a speech that aired in its entirety on Newsmax, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, touted taking Florida from a “one-point margin” swing state to a blowout victory for the GOP in the 2022 midterms.
DeSantis made his remarks in fellow swing state Pennsylvania, a state that could only dream about a double-digit GOP victory in any election.
Addressing attendees at the annual Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, DeSantis touted his campaign, saying they took Florida from a “state that was always one point in either direction” and made it into a “red state.”
The Florida Governor added that the midterm results were a “massive defeat for the left” and Democratic Party because they didn’t want Florida “to go red.”
He described how Democrats “threw everything but the kitchen sink” at DeSantis’s campaign to stop the state from going red but were defeated, considering his campaign “left the Democratic Party for dead in the state of Florida.”
Lauding his Florida legislative agenda, considerable Republican supermajorities, and achievements throughout and after the Covid-19 pandemic, DeSantis bragged Florida wasn’t only a red state but also a refuge for sanity and “citadel of freedom.”
“Florida got it right,” DeSantis declared in Pennsylvania, one of the largest remaining swing states besides Arizona and Georgia.
The Florida Governor also expressed pride that “when the world lost its mind” and “common sense suddenly became an uncommon virtue,” Florida became a refuge and citadel of “freedom” and “sanity.”
He recalled during the pandemic that, Florida chose “freedom over Fauci-ism.”
