Is DeSantis right?

Speaking at a press conference in Okaloosa County on Wednesday (May 18), Florida Gov. Ron De Santis stated President Biden’s border policies should secure the President an “honorary” membership in a Mexican drug cartel.

In the unrelated press conference, De Santis took aim at the Biden administration’s plans to end Title 42, a Trump-era health policy that prevented migrants from seeking asylum in the U.S. and allowed border officials to expel them at the border.

De Santis had a scathing report on the President, saying Biden “is violating his own oath of office by allowing massive numbers of people to come across the country illegally.”

He also lamented the experience of border communities, stating, “Those border communities are just getting killed down in southern Texas with everything coming in.”

The Florida Republican also pointed out that the lax border policies were to blame for the acceleration of America’s fentanyl problem, emphasizing that the drug can move across the border unchecked.

“Biden should be given an honorary membership in the Mexican drug cartels because nobody has done more to help the cartels than Biden with his open border policies,” De Santis said.

The Governor went on to criticize the Biden administration for establishing a Disinformation Board, which would detect and suppress information it deemed illegitimate or harmful.

“The way they are doing it is: whatever the regime wants they are going to say is the truth,” adding that if “you dissent from that, they’re going to say it’s misinformation.”
