Here’s what the Democrats will do…

Following the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, Democrats have made it clear that they would prioritize electing pro-choice leadership.

Speaking out against the Supreme Court’s decision, Gabrielle Chew, vice president of communications for the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC), a committee that works to elect pro-choice Democrats to state legislatures, stated Americans are “alarmed” by the Court’s decision.

Chew stated that the High Court’s “antiquated, politically-transparent decision strips women of the right to control their own bodies and will lead to unnecessary death,” while expressing her belief that the Court’s ruling would be catering to “a hyper-vocal, fringe minority and not the eight in 10 Americans who support the legal right to abortion.”

However, Chew’s statements about 8 in 10 Americans are unsubstantiated as most polls show there’s a sliding scale on pro-choice, with the number of Americans approving of abortion increasing, only if abortion was for a specific reason like rape, incest, or endangering the mother.

Chew also mentioned a Democratic talking point that has gained popularity among Progressive Democrats since the ruling, stating that the ruling threw marriage equality and birth control into question.

Chew went on to say that “Americans across the political spectrum are alarmed at the Supreme Court and Republicans in state legislatures declaring open season on our fundamental rights.”

She then revealed that state Democrats would be responding to “this attack on our freedom to decide if and when to have a family by turning out voters in droves” during the midterms.
