She knows Biden is done for.
Democratic Senator Maggie Hassan is drawing a clear line in the sand in her home state of New Hampshire between herself and President Joe Biden as she shows off her efforts to decrease gas prices in a new ad campaign.
Hassan, who faces a challenging reelection in the midterms, has started her ad campaign with an ad released on Monday (May 2), that focused on gas prices.
In the statewide TV ad, Hassan highlights her efforts to eliminate the federal gas tax temporarily.
The ad starts with a narrator saying, “Gas prices – we know the story. And while all of us are paying the price, one senator is fighting to lower your costs.”
The ad then shows a clip from a local news report that says, “Hassan is on a mission to try to ease the pain at the pump. She wants to suspend the federal gas tax for the rest of the year.”
Afterward, Hassan speaks, creating a clear separation between herself and Biden.
“I am taking on members of my own party to pus a gas tax holiday, and I am pushing Joe Biden to release more of our oil reserves. That’s how we lower costs and get through these times,” Hassan says.
Hassan and fellow first-term Democratic Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona have co-authored a bill, titled the Gas Price Relief Act, which would remove the 18.4 cents-per-gallon federal tax for the rest of the year.
