(TheIndependentStar.com) – Two brave pilots tragically lost their lives during what should have been a routine training flight after their plane crashed near Honolulu Airport.

Chilling audio recordings from the doomed flight reveal the pilots’ desperate struggle.

In their final moments, one of the pilots can be heard saying to the control tower, “We’re out of control here.”

Specifically, a Kamaka Air Cessna 208 crashed into an abandoned building near Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, killing both pilots on board.

The aircraft, which was on a training flight to Lanai Airport, faced severe issues shortly after takeoff, leading to a desperate struggle for control.

Local official Ed Sniffen confirmed the grim details: “It’s not a charter flight; it was a training flight. Two souls were on board. Both perished.”

The crash has sent shockwaves through the community. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the plane flying dangerously low before hearing a loud boom and seeing smoke.

In a heroic final act, the pilots managed to avoid several critical structures, including a fuel farm, preventing an even greater disaster from happening.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have launched investigations into the crash.

“Two people are dead after a plane crashed into a building near the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, according to reports,” the FAA stated, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

Still, many are demanding more immediate action to prevent future tragedies.

Family members have identified the victims as Hiram Defries, a young pilot in training, and Preston Kaluhiwa.

As the investigation unfolds, many call for a thorough review of what led up to the crash.
