Commander of Space Base in Greenland Booted for Slamming Vance

A power struggle within the U.S. Space Force has emerged as Colonel Susan Meyers was dismissed from her post at the Pituffik Space Base in Greenland for slamming Vice President JD Vance.

Meyers sent an inappropriate email to all base personnel, including foreign nationals, directly contradicting the administration’s security concerns about the strategically vital Arctic region.

Her dismissal clearly sends a message that military leadership must respect the chain of command rather than promote personal political views.

Colonel Kenneth Klock, commander of Space Base Delta 1, relieved Meyers of her duties at Pituffik Space Base in Greenland this week.

The Space Operations Command justified her removal by citing a “loss of confidence in her ability to lead.”

Colonel Shawn Lee has been appointed as her replacement to ensure continuity of operations at this crucial military installation.

Meyers’ downfall began after Vice President Vance’s recent visit to the base, where he emphasized the Trump administration’s concerns about Denmark’s underinvestment in Greenland’s security and America’s strategic interest in the territory.

Rather than supporting the administration’s position, Meyers took the extraordinary step of sending an email to all personnel – including Danish and Greenlandic nationals – directly contradicting the Vice President.

In her controversial email, Meyers wrote: “I do not presume to understand current politics, but what I do know is the concerns of the U.S. administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base.”

She further undermined the administration by stating, “I commit that, for as long as I am lucky enough to lead this base, all of our flags will fly proudly, together.”

The Space Force’s decision to boot Meyers received strong support from Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, who made it clear that insubordination would not be tolerated:

“Actions to undermine the chain of command or to subvert President Trump’s agenda will not be tolerated at the Department of Defense.”

Pituffik Space Base, formerly Thule Air Base, is of immense strategic importance to American national security interests.

Its Arctic location provides crucial missile defense and surveillance capabilities, particularly as Russia and China increase their military presence in the region.

The Trump administration has identified Greenland as critical to America’s defense strategy and international security concerns.

“What we think is going to happen is that Greenlanders are going to choose through self-determination to become independent of Denmark, and then we will have conversations with the people of Denmark from there,” Vance said.

Vice President Vance clarified during his visit that while the administration supports Greenland’s potential independence and partnership with the United States, no military force would be used to acquire the territory.

Instead, the focus is on encouraging Greenlanders to pursue self-determination in their own interests while addressing the reality that the U.S. can no longer subsidize European security efforts in the region without proper investment from Denmark.

The swift removal of Meyers demonstrates that the Trump administration is serious about ensuring that military leadership aligns with America’s strategic priorities and respects the constitutional chain of command.
