(TheIndependentStar.com) – Boeing’s quality control failures strike again, endangering hundreds of passengers aboard an Etihad Airways flight in Melbourne.

Etihad Airways flight EY461, bound for Abu Dhabi with nearly 300 passengers, was forced to abort takeoff at Melbourne Airport when its landing gear caught fire.

Watch the video below.

The incident, involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, highlights ongoing safety concerns with the embattled American aerospace giant.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner experienced a catastrophic failure as two of its tires exploded during the takeoff attempt, prompting immediate emergency action.

Emergency brakes were used to stop the aircraft after smoke and flames were seen coming from the landing gear.

This latest incident adds to a growing list of safety concerns surrounding Boeing aircraft.

In recent years, the company has faced increased scrutiny following fatal crashes and numerous quality control issues.

Emergency services quickly responded to the scene. Fire trucks doused the aircraft’s landing gear with foam as a precautionary measure.

The swift action of first responders prevented the situation from escalating into a potentially deadly event.

While Etihad Airways claims that all 289 passengers were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported, the incident caused significant delays at Melbourne Airport.

Only one runway remained operational, disrupting both departures and arrivals.

Due to the severity of the tire damage, the damaged aircraft could not be immediately towed off the runway, further worsening the disruption.

Repairs had to be arranged on-site, highlighting the potential for consequences from what appears to be yet another Boeing manufacturing defect.

An Etihad Airways spokesman attempted to downplay the incident, stating, “The flight crew decided to halt the takeoff for technical reasons, the aircraft was safely brought to a stop on the runway and emergency services attended as a precaution.”

However, this corporate response fails to address the underlying issues with Boeing’s aircraft that continue to put passengers at risk.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of strict safety standards and the potential consequences when those standards are compromised.

As investigations into the cause of the tire explosions begin, it remains to be seen whether Boeing will face further scrutiny to address these ongoing safety concerns.
