(TheIndependentStar.com) – HAPPENING NOW: Joe Biden’s worst political nightmare has come to life and assuming he is the Democrat nominee, will almost certainly cost him the 2024 Presidential Election.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was competing against Biden for the Democrat nomination, is ending that bid and launching a third-party campaign for the presidency. A third-party challenge will almost certainly pull enough votes away from Biden that Biden will lose to the presumptive GOP nominee, Donald Trump.
Kennedy, a prominent member of the renowned Kennedy political lineage, is set to reveal his intention to contest as an independent on Oct. 9 in Philadelphia, as reported by Mediaite.
A source from within the Kennedy campaign remarked to the media, “Bobby feels that the DNC is changing the rules to exclude his candidacy so an independent run is the only way to go.”
Recently, the 69-year-old environmental attorney and anti-vaccine advocate hinted at a “major announcement” in a YouTube video (see below), where he spoke out against the “corruption” prevalent in “both parties.”
RFK Jr. questioned, “How are we going to win against the established Washington interests? It’s not through playing the game.”
Having initiated his 2024 presidential campaign in April, Kennedy Jr. has purportedly been contemplating the viability of a third-party campaign for some time now.
A super PAC named American Values 2024, supporting Kennedy’s bid for the presidency, has been probing his potential chances in a triangular race that would also include Biden and former President Donald Trump, as stated by CNN.
Kennedy Jr. had a meeting with Angela McCardle, the Libertarian Party Chair, in July, as per the New York Times. However, McCardle later clarified that Kennedy had not pledged to run under the Libertarian banner.
Earlier in the month, Kennedy Jr. expressed concerns regarding his chances to challenge the octogenarian incumbent, conveying to Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison through an open letter his perception that the Democratic Party and the Biden campaign are now indistinguishably “merged into one unit.”
In the letter, Kennedy Jr. expressed, “Unfortunately, in recent years our party leaders have succumbed to the siren of control.” He further stated, “They have compromised the defining democratic principle of one person, one vote through repeated interference in the primary elections. They have hijacked the party machinery and, in recent years, directed the power of censorship onto their political opponents, raising political victory onto the altar in place of honest democracy.”
Kennedy Jr. also criticized the DNC for amending the primary calendar, constricting ballot access in Iowa, and choosing not to host a Democratic primary debate.
As per RealClearPolitics data, Kennedy Jr. is currently gathering about 15% in nationwide polls, trailing significantly behind Biden, who stands at 65% support.
