On Saturday (June 10), President Joe Biden’s administration is facing online backlash over Sunday’s (June 11) Pride Month event at the White House, with many Twitter users saying it violates the American Flag.

In a social media post on Saturday, Biden celebrated the LGBT community by revealing a group of flags hanging from the south side of the White House.

On display in the image is a rainbow-colored Pride banner flanked by two American flags.

Twitter users have shared that the display violates a section of the American Flag Code that requires the American flag to be in the center of any display with a multinational flag or pennant.

Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, described the display as an attempt to “advance revolutionary transgender agenda targeting children,” adding that Biden is accomplishing this by “violat[ing] basic tenet of US Flag Code,” which he noted, “disrespects every American service member buried under its colors.”

Fitton further cited U.S. Flag Act ยง 7(e), which reads: “The flag of the United States should be at the center and highest point of the group when a number of flags of State or localities or pennants of societies are grouped and displayed from staffs.”

On Saturday (June 10) at the White House’s Pride Month event for Biden, the display was a prominent feature.

The event, which hosted speakers and performers representing LGBTQI+ issues, recognized the Pride community as the “bravest and most inspiring people” and role models for the United States and the world.

First Lady Jill Biden suggested that those not embracing the Pride issues “want to drag our country backwards,” telling attendees, “just coming to this event is an act of bravery.”
